Cheong Li Sheng

Li Sheng is a Corporate & Commercial Partner of EGP. His practice focuses on a wide spectrum of legal areas, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate banking, venture capital, fundraising exercises, joint ventures, regulatory & compliance and general corporate and commercial matters.

Li Sheng commenced his legal career in a leading law firm in Malaysia focusing on corporate & commercial, mergers & acquisitions and corporate banking. He regularly advised local and foreign clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters spanning across multiple industries.

His experience includes advising and guiding clients through fundraising initiatives, acquisition of companies, regulatory compliance, employment matters, privacy and data protection, preparing of commercial contracts, conducting legal due diligence, shareholders’ agreement, share subscription agreement, employment contracts and services agreement.

Some of Li Sheng’s experience throughout his practice are as follows:

  • Advised a local conglomerate in the acquisition of a company in the business of waste management from a public listed company with a transaction value of RM700 million.

  • Advised a multinational logistics and transportation company in the acquisition of a transportation and warehousing business in Malaysia from a Singapore-listed company for a consideration of approximately SGD57 million.

  • Advised a Singapore-based renewable energy company on its proposed disposal of its solar project subsidiary.

  • Advised a venture capital firm on its investment in a drone technology company involving the subscription of preference shares of up to USD20 million.

  • Advised a public listed construction company on a joint development agreement in relation to the development of main infrastructure on lands measuring more than 700 acres in the northern region of Malaysia with the estimated total gross development value exceeding RM1 billion.

  • Advised a US-based semiconductor measurement device manufacturer on a tenancy agreement in relation to a factory and office building in the northern region of Malaysia.

  • Advised a telecommunication tower infrastructure company in a financing facility of up to RM275 million.

  • Contributed to The Legal 500 Country Comparative Guides 2024 for the chapter “Malaysia: Doing Business in”.
